Host: MarLisa Hollands
Host MarLisa Hollands invites Rachelle Lamb to speak about Nonviolent Communication.
This Epic Life (Nov 2020)
“Our world needs more kindness and strength, and it gives me hope to find a teacher like Rachelle who is so committed to training and embodying both qualities. At the core of Nonviolent Communication is the practice of making neutral observations, identifying our feelings, clearly stating our needs, and making a request. Dr. Marshall Rosenberg developed the Nonviolent Communication framework in the Sixties. Rachelle studied with, and was certified by Dr. Rosenberg, and continues to carry his work forward in so many cool ways.”

Poetry of Predicament (Aug 2020)
I'd like to share with you this remarkable person I've had the pleasure to have recently met . Rachelle Lamb has been making a difference in her community in a number of ways: Teaching Non Violent Communication skills for two decades Studying with Stephen Jenkinson for a decade Writing poetry for god knows how long ... and, as you will hear, she has been thinking in her own clear, original way, rarely encumbered by the Business as Usual trappings. All of this adds up to a very inspiring response to the question, "If I don't live immersed in the Business as Usual thinking and relating, how shall I comport myself?" There are far too few exemplars of people who are actively exploring and generating new ways of thinking, being, creating and relating. I hope you enjoy Rachelle's presence and edgy courage as much as I do.

Speak To Me Like You Love Me
March 20, 2011
Show Host: Wendy McDonnell
Listen from Family Matters website
Rachelle says, “What if separation is embedded in the very words we speak? We are wired for care and compassion. What language do we speak?” Listen to this show about daring to live an authentic life with the ones we love.
Rachelle encourages parents to bear in mind:
Do your best to remember what it was like to be a child first before you try to civilize your child.
Some of your problems have nothing to do with communication. Questions like “How do I get my child to…?” indicate systemic challenges. Parents are often doing the work of a village feeling tired and frustrated and need help. Do your best to build community and self-compassion.
Children respond very well to needs language. When they ask “why?” or say “no”, they likely want to understand the life and meaning in what we’re asking for.
Joseph Chilton Pearce wrote in The Biology of Transendence: A Blueprint of the Human Spirit, “All of us know intuitively that we are not by nature savage beasts. Fewer, however, are aware that we are driven to some fairly beastly behaviors by enculturation, despite the fact that the process itself is supposed to prevent this.”
Nonviolent Communication, Dissolving Separation and Giving Birth to a New World
January 5, 2011
Show Host: Peter Tongue
There is no doubt that we are at an evolutionary threshold ... a time where the divide between science and spirituality is rapidly dissolving ... a time where we are waking up to the highly active role we play in a cause and effect world. And yet, despite our growing awareness, language itself and its direct impact on shaping our reality and relationships, receives sparse attention. Because it is acquired so early and we are therefore fused with it, our every day usage escapes scrutiny as a significant contributor to much of the conflict we face. It is rare in fact in situational conflict for us to examine how our mainly conditioned and thereby unconscious choice of words is not only reactive but also causal. During this hour, Rachelle shares with Peter the ways in which language and communication is leading the way to a new and exciting frontier of possibility. In practical terms, how our chosen words can effectively dissolve conflict and the accompanying illusion of separation which so pains us. Challenging, powerful and illuminating ... tune in to learn how what we say matters so very much.
